At Internet Marketing University, mistakes pay
Have you ever made the mistake of not reading something carefully, or not taking the time to realize something, and it cost you hundreds, or even thousands of dollars?
I made one of those mistakes, but it didn’t cost me a thing… In fact, not making the mistake would be the biggest mistake I could’ve made.
I recently bought the IMU aka, “Internet Marketing University”. From what I read, it made it sound like I didn’t have to pay a cent until I made money from it. Having only $3 in my paypal account I decided that there really wasn’t much risk to press the “buy now” button. After all, they had said that if you buy it now you try it free. They said that you only had to pay for it if you make 4 times the price of the program, and that the price will go up. And this was just after I had read about how Jay Abraham has done consulting for free, and only asks that the people pay him a percentage of their earnings AFTER they make the money. And I was so excited about this great deal, that for once I just skimmed right through it, seeing that it says “you pay us on the honor system, after you make $5000, using his program, you can send us the $1000 check in the mail, until you make another $5000, but it’s completely based on trust”. At about this point my cursor flew down to the bottom of the screen as I hit “enroll now”.
So like I said, even though it brought me to a paypal screen, I figured they just would bill me after, and since I only had $3 in the account, what damage could it do.
Little did I know that although it’s “risk free”, what they really meant is that there’s a $297 “enrollment fee”. When I pressed the “pay now” Paypal button, it said “Paypal payment $3, credit card billing $294.
Then it hit me… I had a credit card on record at paypal, one that I used once months ago.
At first I was embarrassed at the mistake… Then angry… I had heard stories of people getting scammed, or people foolishly buying without reading, but now I was in the cockpit. Well I checked the FAQ at the site and there was a question “how do I get a refund”. They said that if you really wanted it, you can get it by clicking on the link, but that it would only do it within the first 15 days, and he would completely disable your username from the portal (unlike ebooks where you can get a refund and still have a digital copy stored on your computer)
But I’m thinking, as long as I paid, I might as well check the program out. So I downloaded the portal, opened it up, and signed in.
I was hooked like a crackhead playing Tetris… I went through page after page after page of the “Target Market Tactics” e-course until it was finished. I learned all about how to find the laser targeted niches, and all sorts of great strategies.
Then came the “Perpetual Profits” e-book which taught me how to earn from my niche.
Then came my favorite “Business Blueprint”, a 12-step program to profit in 30 days or less. In fact Brian Campbell, the creator of the program, said that he once completed all steps in 3 days. This not only gives you all the steps, but it breaks it down into small “slices” that is very easy to follow. It gives you all sorts of copywriting techniques on how to write sales letters, use buzz phrases, and how to accent them. How to use headers and subheaders, how to create your own website with followup email, even before you have your product out, and really just a lot of high quality information.
I already knew how to create a PDF, so I skipped that report and went to the Marketing ESP video-course. This unique course trains you just how to develop the skills to improve marketing. Skills such as “Nonsense Detection” (many would call this the Bullsh*t radar), Opportunity Scanning and recognizing the patterns... How to enhance your confidence, maximize your time, evaluate other “competition” and recognize the opportunities to build for the future.
At this point, I wanted more. I went to the next “Internet Marketing Empire” Video-course. Without giving away much, it told you the importance of investing in automation. Investing 5 hours of your time to gain 1 hour back over and over again.
Brian was big on selling completeness, and giving your customers THE most complete course out there.
Then came perhaps the longest course “Instant Sales Flood” (which at first I read as “instant sales FOOD”). This really focused on email marketing, and gave several great strategies to build a list and turn it into your greatest asset. It talked about the sequences that you must follow, the patterns or phases of buying that your prospects enter, and exactly how often you should send out offers, and how often you should send out content with no offers. It talked about sending your list too many emails “burnout” vs. too little “not developing relationship with your prospect”. It tells you how o build credibility, and how to multiply the value of your ebook (you have to see this one). It even talked about how you could create “excuses” to send your list email, and how to promote something without being obvious (they’ll love you for it). It then went on to give a lot more information about your email list, and among the most important, was how to find out what your list wants.
Now a lot of courses would give you at least some of the info above, but when it comes to web design, they look the other way or just say “well I don’t have it but check out this $1938.34 program”…
(and I’m sure when you get there they tell you how to use HTML, but they say nothing about creating a webpage that’s marketable)

Website Creation Toolbox gives you a complete tutorial video of how you can easily create a colorful profit pulling sales page, how to install a forum, and how to install your own blog. They even tell you how to make an ebook cover, set up mail, and it teaches you everything you need to know to create a profitable page.
And last but not least, we have the Internet Profit Mentor (IPM) All-stars. The IPM Allstars was a program originally created for a select group of people with no real marketing experience, and a lot of time on their hands. The plan was to take people and turn them into the ultimate marketers and affiliates. Brian Campbell ran the IPM Allstars just like a top-notch college level course. He had instructional videos set up for each day, and had assignments do the next day. The “students” would then send them a record to show that they completed the course… But if they fell too much behind, he flunked them, and cut them from the course completely (how’s that for a strict teacher). It was a 3 month course, and those who really excelled were rewarded with a 5 figure income..
If you enroll in the Internet Marketing University, you get to see the entire forum where he kept a record of the assignments. A few offers were removed as they were only good for that time, but you could still see most of the course, a very intense series. The benefit of seeing it is that you can do all the assignments, but you can complete it at your own pace without risking being removed. Of course if you’re determined to have someone push you, I’m sure you could hire someone to punish you when you don’t stay on task and reward you when you do. (Your own personal dominatrix)
Regardless, if you need a day-by-day plan, whether you take a day or a week to complete each “day”, you can’t beat the IPM All-stars at Internet Marketing University.
After going through the course, I think it is well worth the initial fee, and obviously worth the $1000 that you send in as you’ll only do that if you make at least 4 times the amount…
I figure that at the least, the price of the “enrollment fee” will be made back quickly and on our way to earning the big bucks we go.
And if for whatever reason you don’t make a fortune… you can always press the refund button.
